365 Days

Wow, it's been a while since I posted anything new. Here's my latest photography news. I decided to join a 365 days of photography project Flickr group on January 1st. Many of the group members use a strict interpretation of the 365 project, making and posting images everyday. I've decided to take a broader view and use the next 365 days to improve my own photography through practice and exploration.

The new year started with practice using flash and vintage tree ornaments. "Angie Angel" is a tradition from my spouse's family where she held court from atop their annual Christmas tree. She's a little bent and worn, but still graces our holiday. Keeping with the holiday theme, the dining room table was covered with decorations and holiday finery when it was time to put away the glitz and glitter for another year.

Other things I've worked on during the first few days of the new year include photos of food and table settings from our niece's baby shower and nature's own decorations at the Manatee Viewing Center in Apollo Beach, FL.

At the middle of January, I'll be participating in two all-day workshops, focusing on flowers. Day 1 will be spent at the Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory photographing rare orchids in the Tropical House; Day 2 will be spent in the studio. Photos to follow, of course.

  1. Love that picture of Angie! I may need to use that when I get the guide written for the needle point version...

  2. Hm, we might need to strike up a deal involving both versions of "Angie Angel" in a photograph.
